Game description:

Famista ’89: Kaimaku Ban!! is an arcade-style 8-bit baseball game developed and published by Namco for the Famicom (NES) in 1989. As part of Namco’s long-running Family Stadium series, this seasonal opening edition features 14 teams modeled after Nippon Professional Baseball club rosters along with special exhibition squads. Players compete in fast-paced single games or full multi-team tournaments with straightforward pitching, batting, and fielding mechanics.

How to Play

Take the field in single-player matches against the CPU or two-player head-to-head competition. On defense, select pitches, control pitch curve and speed, and throw to bases after fielding balls in play. On offense, position your batter in the box, time your swings, and advance runners around the bases.

Browser Controls

  • D-Pad / Arrow Keys: Move batter / Aim pitch location / Move fielders / Steal or advance runners
  • A / Z Key: Swing bat / Pitch ball / Throw to target base
  • B / X Key: Bunt / Cancel base throw / Dive or jump in outfield
  • Start / Enter: Start match / Pause
  • Select / Shift: Switch menu options

Tips & Strategy

  • Mix Pitch Speeds and Trajectories: Hold Up while pitching to throw a fast ball or Down for a slow forkball, combining speed changes with Left or Right D-Pad inputs to curve the ball out of the strike zone.
  • Adjust Batter Positioning: Stand toward the front of the batter’s box to pull pitches early, or step back to buy extra split-seconds against fast pitchers.
