Game description:

Explorer (1981) is a classic horizontal side-scrolling arcade shooter, famously known as an unauthorized bootleg of Konami’s hit game Scramble, originally produced by the Italian manufacturer Sidam. Players pilot a spacecraft through treacherous caverns and fortified enemy bases, engaging in intense shoot-’em-up action while carefully managing a constantly depleting fuel gauge.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate through six distinct, progressively difficult stages, destroying enemy rockets, UFOs, and installations while avoiding terrain collisions. Use the arrow keys to maneuver your ship in eight directions. Press Z to fire your forward lasers at aerial threats and X to drop bombs on ground targets. To keep your ship airborne, you must actively replenish your fuel supply by destroying the fuel tanks placed along the ground.

Tips

  • Always prioritize bombing the “FUEL” tanks; your fuel gauge drops continuously, and running out is just as deadly as enemy fire.
  • You can only have two bombs falling on screen at any given time, so time your drops carefully to ensure you hit critical targets.
  • When navigating the tight corridors in the later stages, focus primarily on safe positioning and avoiding the walls rather than trying to shoot every enemy.
