Game description:

Duke Nukem 3D is a 1996 first-person shooter by 3D Realms Entertainment, remarkably adapted for the 16-bit Sega Genesis. This version translates the fast-paced action and labyrinthine level design of the original game into a simplified raycasting engine tailored specifically for the console. Players navigate alien-infested space stations, utilizing a recognizable arsenal that includes shotguns, chainguns, and rocket launchers to blast through enemy forces and uncover hidden secrets.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate complex levels, find colored keycards to unlock new areas, and reach the exit switch while surviving alien attacks. Use the arrow keys to move and turn. On your keyboard, S, X, and Z map to the Genesis A, B, and C buttons, allowing you to fire your weapon, interact with doors and switches, and strafe during combat. Press Enter to pause or access the menu.

Tips

  • Ammo can deplete quickly; rely on your basic pistol for weaker enemies and save heavy weapons like the RPG for bosses or dense groups.
  • Because this Genesis port lacks the vertical aiming of the original, focus on maintaining a safe distance from enemies and strafing out of the line of fire.
  • Listen carefully for enemy grunts or opening doors, as the flat level design often means threats are right around the corner.
