Dream Maze: Kigurumi Daibouken is a charming first-person dungeon crawler RPG originally released for the Super Famicom in 1994. Instead of dark fantasy labyrinths, this lighthearted adventure takes place in a colorful dream world where you explore 3D mazes while dressed in animal kigurumi costumes. Playable here fully in English thanks to KingMike’s translation patch, you will battle candy-themed enemies and navigate whimsical dungeons in a game that makes the classic grid-based RPG genre accessible and fun.
How to Play
Your objective is to explore each floor of the maze, manage your party’s health, and defeat enemies in turn-based combat to find the stairs to the next level. Use the arrow keys to move and turn through the dungeons. Press X (SNES A button) to confirm commands or interact, and Z (SNES B button) to cancel or back out of menus. Press Enter (Start) to open the main menu to check stats and use items.
Tips
- Keep a mental note of your heading or draw a simple map; it is very easy to lose your sense of direction after a random encounter spins you around.
- Make sure to upgrade your character’s equipment regularly in town before diving deeper into the mazes, as enemy difficulty scales up noticeably on lower floors.
