Dragonfire is a fast-paced 1982 action game for the Atari 2600 developed by Imagic. You play as a prince attempting to recover the king’s lost treasures from a series of castles guarded by dragons. Each level is split into two distinct phases: surviving the approach and looting the hoard.

How to play

First, you must cross the drawbridge by dodging fireballs. Use the joystick (arrow keys) to duck under high fire, and the button (Spacebar) to jump over low fire. Once inside, guide the prince around the room to collect all the treasure while avoiding the dragon running along the bottom of the screen. When the room is cleared, a door opens to the next, much faster level.

Tips

On the drawbridge, focus your eyes on the right edge of the screen to react to the height of incoming fireballs as early as possible. Inside the treasure room, try to grab the items closest to the dragon first while it is relatively slow, leaving the safer items near the top for when the screen gets more chaotic.
