Donkey_Kong is a platformer that Nintendo published for the Game Boy in 1994. Nintendo published it in-house, which usually meant tighter controls and a gentler opening than the third-party average.
Gameplay
Progress comes from reading each jump before committing to it — the levels are built around timing rather than speed. Each stage asks you to learn a route and then execute it cleanly, and a mistimed jump usually costs a life rather than a sliver of health. Only one player at a time. It weighs 512 kB — small enough that a slow connection is not an obstacle.
On the Game Boy
Game Boy design tends toward short sessions — an artefact of a machine people played on buses. The copy on this page runs through an emulator compiled to WebAssembly, so nothing is installed on your machine. This is the 16-bit peak, when two-dimensional games got as polished as they were going to get.
