Game description:

Dead Zone is a sci-fi graphic adventure game developed by Sunsoft, originally released for the Famicom Disk System in 1986 and playable here as an NES title. Set in a distant future, you take on the role of space engineer Kirk as he infiltrates the space station Sirius to rescue his fiancée, Mary, from a rogue robot uprising. Through menu-driven commands, you navigate the station, gather items, and solve puzzles with the help of your robot companion, Carry.

How to Play

As a classic Japanese text adventure, gameplay revolves around selecting actions from a command menu to interact with your surroundings. You must observe rooms carefully, collect useful items, and converse with characters to progress. Use the D-pad (Arrow Keys) to navigate the menus, the A button (Z or X) to confirm commands, and the B button (X or Z) to cancel or go back.

Tips

  • Always use the “Look” command in a new room; interacting with the environment often reveals hidden items or changes the context of your available options.
  • Don’t forget to consult with your robot partner, Carry. She can provide vital hints on what to do next if you find yourself stuck.
