Game description:

Cycle Race – Road Man is a unique strategy-oriented bicycle racing game developed by Advance Communication and published exclusively for the NES in Japan in 1988. Players embark on a challenging 4,000-kilometer race around the Japanese coastline, balancing the stamina of their cyclists and the condition of their bikes against the relentless pace of the competition. You can choose to represent a team from the USA, Japan, France, or Italy, blending top-down arcade racing action with careful resource management.

How to Play

Your objective is to finish the grueling cross-country tour without running out of energy, falling too far behind in the rankings, or completely destroying your bicycle. Between stages, you must use points earned from racing to purchase faster and more durable bikes. Using the default browser controls, press the Arrow Keys to steer your cyclist, X to pedal and accelerate, Z to brake, and Enter to start the game and access menus.

Tips

  • Keep a close eye on your rider’s energy levels and your bike’s condition. Push too hard without picking up teammate power-ups like water and on-the-spot repairs, and your race will end prematurely.
  • Upgrading to a bike with better handling and durability is often more crucial for long-term survival than focusing entirely on pure top speed for the winding coastal roads.
