Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers is a classic 1990 platformer developed by Capcom for the NES, based on the beloved Disney animated series. Players guide the chipmunk detectives through oversized environments, from kitchens to toy stores, on a mission to stop the villainous Fat Cat. Known for its tight controls, vibrant graphics, and excellent simultaneous two-player cooperative mode, it remains one of the standout action games on the system.
How to Play
Unlike typical platformers where you jump on enemies, combat revolves around picking up and throwing objects. You can grab crates, apples, and even stunned enemies to hurl at foes. In two-player mode, you can also pick up and throw your partner, which can be used to reach high platforms or just cause playful chaos.
- D-Pad (Arrow Keys): Move and duck
- A Button (Z): Jump
- B Button (X): Pick up objects / Throw
- Start (Enter): Pause / Select options
Tips
- Hide in crates: When holding a regular crate, press down to duck inside it. If an enemy walks into you while hiding, they will be defeated, though the crate will be destroyed.
- Heavy objects: You can pick up large red apples and heavy metal blocks, but they will slow your movement and limit your jump height. Throw them quickly to clear the path.
- Zipper’s invincibility: Keep an eye out for their fly companion, Zipper. Catching him grants temporary invincibility, allowing you to rush through dangerous sections.
