Championship Soccer ’94 is a Sega Genesis football game developed by Sensible Software and released in 1993. It carries the house style that made the studio famous: a top-down pitch, small animated players, and matches that are over in minutes but still reward skill. You choose from an international lineup of teams and play out fixtures that are brisk and arcade in spirit — the goal is always one touch away.
How to Play
Arrow keys move your player. S passes or tackles, X shoots, and Z plays a through ball. Enter pauses. The top-down camera keeps the full pitch visible, making it easy to read the defence and find the space behind it.
Tips
- After-touch matters. After hitting a shot, hold a direction to bend the ball — curving it around the keeper or into the far post is a core Sensible Software engine skill, and it works here.
- Short passes beat long balls. Move the ball into space, draw the defender out, then slip it through.
