Game description:

Cyber Stadium Series: Base Wars, released for the NES in 1991 by Konami, reimagines baseball with heavily armed robot teams. Instead of traditional rules, this futuristic sports title replaces umpires with combat, where close plays at the bases are decided by one-on-one fighting.

How to Play

The core gameplay follows traditional baseball, but when a runner is challenged at a base, you enter a fighting minigame to decide the outcome. You can also upgrade your robots’ parts, such as tank treads or weapons, over the course of a tournament. Standard NES controls apply: use the D-pad to move, pitch, or aim, the A button to swing, pitch, or punch, and the B button to jump or throw (mapped to the arrow keys, Z, and X on your keyboard).

Tips

  • When fighting at a base, keep an eye on your robot’s health meter; losing too many fights means losing a player for the rest of the game.
  • Invest in better weapons, like the laser gun, for your key players to give them a distinct advantage in combat.
  • Upgrading your chassis (like the tank or unicycle) significantly affects a robot’s speed and durability during both fielding and brawling.
