Game description:

Banjo-Kazooie: Smash Bros. Temple is a custom ROM hack for the Nintendo 64, created by modder Mark Kurko in 2019. This creative crossover takes the beloved bear and bird duo and drops them into a fully 3D, explorable recreation of the iconic Hyrule Temple stage from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Built within the original Banjo-Kazooie engine, it transforms the familiar fighting arena into a traditional collectathon playground where you can explore the underground passages and floating platforms from a completely new perspective.

How to Play

Your objective is to explore the Temple and track down all the collectibles scattered throughout the level, which include 8 Jiggies, 100 Musical Notes, and 2 Empty Honeycomb Pieces. The game uses the standard Banjo-Kazooie move set. If you are playing in the browser, the typical Nintendo 64 mapping applies: use the arrow keys to move, Z to crouch or ground pound, X to jump, and Enter to pause. The camera and special moves are mapped to the A/S/D/C keys (representing the C-buttons).

Tips

  • Check the lower caverns: Just like in Smash Bros. Melee, the underground portion of the temple is expansive. Take your time exploring the lower levels and floating platforms at the bottom of the map, as several Jiggies and Notes are hidden there.
  • Use your full moveset: You’ll need to use abilities like the Flap Flip (Z + X) and the Beak Buster (X, then Z) to reach high ledges and uncover items hidden around the stage.
