Atomic Boy (also known by its original Japanese title, Wily Tower) is a 1985 arcade platformer developed by Irem and distributed internationally by Memetron. Set aboard a malfunctioning space station where the resident robots have turned hostile, players control Atomic Boy as he navigates a vertical lattice of pipes to deactivate power switches across five floors.
How to Play
The objective is to climb the pipe networks and deactivate every switch on the floor to unlock the elevator to the next level. In your browser, the arcade controls are mapped to the arrow keys for movement and climbing, Z or X to jump, and Shift and Enter to insert coins and press start. You can jump over robots to avoid them, or jump on power generators to send a “disruptor” electric charge along the pipes to destroy enemies.
Tips
- Generators have a limited number of charges. Time your disruptor shocks carefully to catch multiple robots at once, or save them for when you are cornered.
- Watch out for standard enemies that transform into super robots after crossing a generator, as they require multiple hits to defeat.
