Game description:

Developed by Sunsoft in 1986, Atlantis no Nazo (The Mystery of Atlantis) is an infamous Japan-exclusive action-adventure platformer for the NES. Players control an amateur adventurer named Wynn as he navigates 100 non-linear and incredibly challenging zones to rescue his master, fighting off bizarre enemies using only sticks of dynamite.

How to Play

Your goal is to survive the labyrinthine stages, finding secret doors to warp across the island's 100 zones. Controls for the NES are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to move and duck, Z to jump, and X to throw dynamite. Press Enter to start the game and Shift for select.

Tips

  • Your dynamite can hurt you. Make sure you are safely out of its blast radius before it detonates.
  • Dropping dynamite on top of a treasure chest will open it, revealing items that power up Wynn or grant extra lives.
  • Many doors are hidden and only revealed by throwing dynamite in specific spots; experimentation is key to finding warp zones.
