Game description:

Artelius is an ambitious sci-fi action-RPG developed by Nihon Bussan and released for the Famicom (NES) in 1987. Playing as a cyborg tasked with taking down the interdimensional tyrant King Sarbelor, you navigate a sprawling solar system full of asteroid fields and space colonies. The game stands out by blending traditional top-down RPG map exploration with distinct first-person shooter combat encounters.

How to Play

Navigate the top-down space map to travel between colonies and warp points. Red dots indicate incoming enemies, triggering a shift to a first-person perspective where you must aim a crosshair to shoot your targets. Use the Arrow keys to move and aim, press Z and X for your primary and secondary actions, and use Enter to pause or access your status menus.

Tips

  • Focus your early efforts on acquiring and upgrading the laser beam weapon into the powerful hyper magnum.
  • If you find yourself overwhelmed in combat, having a high agility stat significantly improves your chances of successfully retreating.
  • Blue dots on the map represent friendly space colonies where you can rest, heal, and purchase essential supplies.
