Originally hitting arcades before its 1986 NES release by Jaleco, Argus is a vertical-scrolling shooter that demands sharp reflexes. Developed by NMK, the game drops you into a challenging shoot ’em up experience where you must simultaneously fend off aerial squadrons and bomb fortified ground installations across hostile territory.
How to Play
Pilot your fighter ship through enemy lines, destroying targets in the air and on the ground, and safely complete the landing sequence at the end of each stage. For this browser-based NES emulation, controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to maneuver, press Z to shoot aerial enemies (A button), and press X to drop bombs on ground targets (B button). Use Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Target ground tiles: Essential power-ups are hidden inside specific ground targets. Keep dropping bombs on ground installations to uncover and collect them.
- Nail the landing: Stages end with a mandatory landing sequence. You must perfectly align your ship with the runway and avoid firing your weapons to touch down safely.
- Watch for the transformation: Collecting specific power-ups allows your ship to temporarily transform into an invincible robot, letting you easily ram through enemy formations.
