Released in 1993 for the SNES, ActRaiser 2 – Chinmoku e no Seisen is an action platformer developed by Quintet. Unlike its predecessor, this sequel completely drops the city-building simulation elements to focus entirely on challenging, combat-heavy side-scrolling. Players take control of the Master, descending from the sky palace to battle the demonic forces of Tanzra across beautifully detailed, punishingly difficult stages.
How to play
The objective is to clear each side-scrolling stage by defeating enemies and the final boss to cleanse the land of evil. The Master uses a sword and wings for combat and traversal. In the browser emulator, the SNES D-pad is mapped to your arrow keys for movement. The main action buttons (A, B, X, Y) are typically mapped to your keyboard’s Z, X, A, and S keys. Use Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Use your wings extensively; double-tapping the jump button allows you to glide, which is essential for crossing large gaps and avoiding ground hazards.
- To perform a powerful diving attack, press the attack button while gliding downwards.
