Acrobat Mission is a vertically-scrolling shoot ’em up originally developed by UPL for arcades and ported to the Super Famicom in 1992. You pilot the 2TV-00836 Icarus through challenging enemy formations with a unique twist on combat mechanics. Unlike most shooters, your ship won’t be destroyed by crashing into enemies or sceneryโit simply bounces off them. The game also features a clever bomb system where your limited bombs are physically mounted to the wings of your craft and will automatically detonate to protect you if they are struck by enemy fire.
How to Play
Navigate the Icarus through each stage, collecting power-ups like the Wave (W) and Hurricane (H) weapons, which can be charged for powerful special attacks. Dodge incoming enemy projectiles, as these are the only hazard that can destroy your ship.
Default SNES controls apply in the browser:
- Arrow Keys: Move the ship
- Z: Fire weapon / Hold to charge
- X: Detonate bomb
- Enter: Start
Tips
- Since you only take damage from enemy bullets, you can safely bump into enemy ships or environmental hazards without losing a life.
- You can hold a maximum of two bombs at a time. Because they auto-detonate when hit, they effectively act as a shield, so try to keep them equipped if you’re struggling to dodge.
- If you take a fatal hit, your ship will briefly spin out of control before exploding. You can use this brief delay to steer the explosion into a tough enemy to take them down with you.
