The Tower of Druaga is a classic top-down action maze game released for the NES by Namco. Originating in arcades in 1984, this port tasks you with guiding the knight Gilgamesh through 60 labyrinthine floors to rescue the maiden Ki from the demon Druaga. It blends arcade action with early role-playing elements, requiring you to battle slimes, knights, and wizards while searching for each floor’s key and exit door.
How to play
Your objective on each floor is to find the key and reach the exit door before the timer runs out. Gilgamesh automatically uses his shield to block magical projectiles, but only when standing still or moving directly toward the spell. The controls are mapped to your keyboard:

Tips
- Uncovering the hidden treasure chest on each floor is crucial for surviving the higher levels. The methods to reveal them vary wildly, such as defeating a specific enemy or blocking a spell.
- On Floor 1, you can reveal the chest (which contains the Pickaxe) by simply defeating three Green Slimes.
- Crossing your sword with an enemy knight’s shield will bounce you back. You need to strike their unprotected sides or time your attacks carefully.
