Developed by Namco and released for the NES in 1985, The Tower of Druaga is a foundational action RPG where you guide the knight Gilgamesh through 60 maze-like floors to rescue Princess Ki. Players must navigate treacherous corridors, battle slimes and wizards, and uncover the obscure secrets hidden on every level to gear up for the final confrontation with the demon Druaga.
How to Play
Your objective on each floor is to secure a key and safely reach the locked exit door before time runs out. Navigate the maze using the Arrow keys. Press Z or X to draw your sword and attack enemies. Gilgamesh’s shield automatically blocks magical projectiles, provided he is facing the spell directly and his sword is not drawn. Press Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Every floor contains a hidden treasure chest. The method to reveal each chest is uniqueโranging from defeating specific monsters to blocking a spell or pressing Selectโso experimentation is required.
- Many treasures, such as the Pickaxe for breaking walls or the Candle for lighting dark floors, are permanently missable but mandatory for completing the game.
- Gilgamesh will die instantly if an enemy touches his side or back; always face threats head-on with your sword drawn.
