Developed by Natsume in 1991, Choujin Sentai Jetman is an action-platformer for the NES (Famicom) based on the popular Japanese Super Sentai series. The game lets you choose from all five members of the Jetman team to tackle side-scrolling stages, each bringing a different weapon and health pool to the fight. It stands out from other 8-bit action games by switching genres entirely for its boss fights, dropping you into a one-on-one fighting game where you pilot the team’s giant mech.
How to Play
Navigate the side-scrolling stages using the arrow keys to move, Z to jump, and X to attack. In the Great Icarus mech boss battles, the combat shifts: X performs a standard attack, Z guards against incoming damage, and a power gauge at the bottom of the screen dictates your special moves. Press Enter to pause the game at any time.
Tips
- If you are struggling with a stage, select a character equipped with a ranged blaster, such as White Swan or Blue Swallow, to safely eliminate enemies from a distance.
- In the giant mech fights, focus on guarding while your power meter charges; unleashing a fully charged special attack deals massive damage and is much safer than trading basic blows.
