Zombies (originally released in North America as Zombies Ate My Neighbors) is a classic 1994 run-and-gun action game developed by LucasArts for the Sega Genesis. Paying loving homage to classic B-movie horror, players take control of teenagers Zeke and Julie as they battle their way through suburban neighborhoods, shopping malls, and haunted castles. The game stands out for its frantic cooperative gameplay, immense weapon varietyโranging from holy water and weed whackers to explosive soda cansโand a massive campaign spanning over 40 distinct levels.
How to play
Your primary objective in each stage is to rescue all the surviving neighbors, such as cheerleaders, tourists, and babies, before the monsters can get to them. Once all living neighbors are saved, a magic door opens to the next level.
- Arrow keys: Move
- Z: Use current weapon
- X: Use current item
- C: Switch selected item
- Enter: Start / Pause
Tips
- Radar is essential: Always keep an eye on your radar to track down remaining neighbors quickly. Monsters will kill them if they get there first, permanently reducing the number of neighbors you can save in future levels.
- Save the Monster Potions: The potion that transforms you into an invincible, wall-smashing behemoth is incredibly useful. Save it for tight situations or difficult bosses like the giant demonic babies.
- Match weapons to enemies: Not all weapons work equally well against every monster. For example, silverware is highly effective against werewolves, while the fire extinguisher can instantly freeze some enemies.
