Game description:

Pilot the Solvalou fighter craft in Xevious, Namco’s groundbreaking vertical scrolling shooter released for the NES in 1984. Originally a massive arcade hit, this classic port brings the iconic dual-layer combat home, requiring you to simultaneously manage airborne threats while bombing ground installations as you fly over forests and enemy bases.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive as long as possible while destroying waves of enemy aircraft and ground defenses. You have two distinct weapons: use your forward Zapper to shoot flying enemies, and drop Blaster bombs onto ground targets lined up in your crosshairs. Using the default browser controls, move with the arrow keys, fire your Zapper with the Z key (NES B button), drop bombs with the X key (NES A button), and press Enter to start.

Tips

  • Keep your eyes on the red targeting reticle in front of your shipโ€”it indicates exactly where your ground bombs will land.
  • Try bombing seemingly empty spaces to uncover hidden “Sol” towers and Special Flags for massive point bonuses or an extra life.
  • Stay mobile. Enemy projectiles track toward your current position, so continually weaving around the screen is the best way to avoid being hit.
