Woody Pop is a brick-breaking game by Sega, originally released in 1987 and playable here in its Game Gear version. You control a wooden paddle at the bottom of the screen, bouncing a ball upward to smash through rows of blocks — a tight, single-screen take on the Breakout formula with warm wooden-themed visuals and fast, unforgiving pacing.

How to Play

Move the paddle left and right with the arrow keys to keep the ball in play. Clear every block on a stage to advance. Press Enter to pause; Shift resets the current game. X and Z are the action buttons — use them when power-ups or ball-launch prompts appear. Save your state mid-run with F7 and reload with F8.

Tips

Aim for the sides: hitting the ball with the edge of your paddle angles it toward blocks bunched at the corners where straight returns won’t easily reach.
Once you punch a hole through the top row, the ball can ricochet off the ceiling and tear through remaining blocks far faster than working upward from below — give it space to do that rather than catching it too eagerly.
