Warpman is a classic 1985 arcade-style action game released for the Famicom (NES) by Namco. Acting as an enhanced sequel to their earlier arcade title Warp & Warp, the game revolves around a unique dual-mode mechanic. Players begin in Space World, a frantic top-down shooter, before jumping through a dimensional gate into the Maze World, where they lose their gun and must rely on timed bombs to defeat monsters in a grid-like environment.
How to Play
Your objective in both worlds is to eliminate all enemy monsters to clear the level. A dimensional gate will occasionally open in the center of the screen, allowing you to warp between the two modes.
- D-Pad / Arrow Keys: Move your character
- A Button / Z Key: Shoot in Space World, or set time-delayed bombs in Maze World
Tips
- Trigger Special Monsters: If you defeat three enemies of the same type and color consecutively in Space World, a special monster appears. Hunt it down for bonus points or a chance to collect an “EXTRA” letter for a 1-Up.
- Mind Your Blast Radius: In the Maze World, you can be caught in the explosion of your own bombs. Always ensure you have a clear escape route before placing one.
- Multiplayer Hazards: The game features a cooperative two-player mode, but friendly fire is on! Shooting your partner will temporarily stun them, leaving them vulnerable to enemies.
