Twin Action is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up released for the Arcade in 1995 by Afega. Known largely as an unauthorized modification of U.S.A.A.F. Mustang, the game updates the original graphics and sounds. It features two-player cooperative play, though the “twin” characters lack distinct color palettes, making it challenging to keep track of your ship during chaotic moments.
How to Play
As a classic arcade shooter, your goal is to survive waves of enemies and defeat bosses at the end of each stage. Use Shift (or 5) to insert a coin, and Enter (or 1) to start. Use the Arrow keys for movement, and Z / X / C for your action buttons to shoot and use bombs.
Tips
- Watch the hitboxes: The hit detection is notoriously unforgiving. Enemy shots will only register if they hit the dead center of your character, so focus on protecting your core rather than the edges of your sprite.
- Coordinate in co-op: Since both player characters look nearly identical without unique palettes, communicate clearly with your partner to avoid losing track of who is who.
