Released by Data East in 1991, Tumblepop is an inventive arcade platformer that puts a unique spin on the single-screen action formula. Players control ghostbusters armed with powerful vacuum cleaners, traveling across various world locations to clear stages of quirky monsters by sucking them up and launching them as destructive projectiles.
How to play
Your main objective is to clear every enemy from the screen before the time limit expires. Use the arrow keys to move, press the X key to jump, and hold the Z key to suck enemies into your vacuum cleaner. Once an enemy is captured, release Z to fire them back out as a rolling ball that will crush other enemies in its path. To play in the browser, press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start.
Tips
- Do not hold enemies in your vacuum for too long; they will eventually break free and cost you a life.
- Try to suck up multiple enemies at once and launch them into a large group. This clears the screen faster and spawns valuable letters to spell “TUMBLEPOP” for a bonus stage.
