Hit the gas in Top Speed World, the international arcade release of Taito’s classic 1987 racing game (also known as Top Speed or Full Throttle). This fast-paced, pseudo-3D driving game puts you behind the wheel of a high-performance red sports car. You must race through diverse environments—from city streets to tunnels and coastal highways—dodging traffic and fighting the countdown timer to reach the next checkpoint before time runs out.

How to Play

Your objective is to reach the end of each stage before the timer hits zero. Use the Arrow keys to steer left and right, and to shift gears if playing in manual. Press the Z and X keys to accelerate and brake. A key feature of the game is the nitro boost, which you can activate with a secondary action button to achieve explosive acceleration and blow past the competition.

Tips

• Time Your Nitro: The nitro boost is powerful but risky. Save it for long, straight stretches of road where you have clear visibility and won’t crash into traffic.
• Ease Through Corners: Taking sharp turns at maximum velocity will cause your car to skid and lose momentum. Briefly lay off the accelerator or feather the brake on tight corners.
• Watch for Hazards: The track changes dynamically with underpasses and weather shifts. Stay alert, as colliding with other vehicles or roadside obstacles will cost you precious seconds.
