Game description:

Released in 1993 by Konami, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Mutant Warriors is a classic 2D competitive fighting game for the SNES. Known as Tournament Fighters outside of Japan, this title deviates from the typical beat ’em up formula the franchise was known for, opting instead for a Street Fighter II-style fighting experience. Players can choose from the four turtlesโ€”Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatelloโ€”as well as a colorful cast of villains and allies like Shredder, Aska, and Armaggon. The game features a distinct Mutagen meter that fills during combat, allowing characters to unleash devastating super moves when fully charged.

How to Play

The objective is to deplete your opponent’s health bar by winning two out of three rounds in one-on-one combat. The SNES version uses a standard four-button fighting layout. By default in the browser, movement and jumping are mapped to the Arrow keys. Light and heavy attacks correspond to Z, X, A, and S, while Enter acts as Start.

Tips

  • Build your Mutagen: Your special attacks and combos fill the green Mutagen gauge at the bottom of the screen. Once it flashes, you can execute a powerful desperation move that deals massive damage.
  • Master the dodge: Pressing light punch and light kick simultaneously allows your character to perform a quick backward dash or dodge, which is crucial for evading projectiles and setting up counterattacks.
  • Use Aska for speed: If you prefer a fast-paced rushdown style, Aska is an excellent choice. Her quick, multi-hit butterfly attacks can easily overwhelm slower opponents.
