Game description:

Super Special World is a fan-made ROM hack of Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), originally released in 2021. Designed to feel like a natural but challenging extension of the classic game, it features a “Standard: Hard” difficulty curve that demands precise platforming. Players can expect creative new stage themes, tricky enemy placements, and custom obstacle courses that thoroughly test their mastery of Mario’s mechanics.

How to Play

The objective is to guide Mario through a series of difficult custom levels, avoiding hazards and bottomless pits to reach the goal tape at the end of each stage. For SNES games in the browser, movement is mapped to the arrow keys. Use Z to jump (SNES B button), X to run or use fireballs (SNES Y button), A to spin jump (SNES A button), and Enter for Start.

Tips

  • Master the spin jump: The spin jump (A key) is essential for bouncing safely off otherwise dangerous enemies like Spinies or Thwomps.
  • Conserve power-ups: Since this hack is notably harder than the original game, finding and keeping a Cape Feather or Yoshi can make the difference between passing a tough section and losing a life.
