Super Fantasy Zone is a colorful, free-roaming shoot ’em up released for the Sega Genesis in 1993. Developed by Sunsoft, it serves as an excellent sequel to Sega’s arcade classic. You control the sentient spaceship Opa-Opa through vibrant, pastel-hued levels, battling eccentric enemies. Players can freely scroll left and right to clear out enemy bases, collecting dropped coins to purchase weapon and engine upgrades from hidden shops.
How to Play
Your objective is to destroy all the enemy generators in a level to summon the stage boss. Control Opa-Opa using the arrow keys to fly in any direction. Press the Z key to fire your main weapon and the X key to drop bombs. Use the Enter key to pause the game or make selections.
Tips
- Purchasing the Twin Bombs or Heavy Bombs early makes clearing enemy bases much faster.
- Purchased weapons have limited ammo or time durations, but engine upgrades remain active until you lose a life, so prioritize movement speed first.
- Be careful not to buy too many engine upgrades at once, as moving too fast can make Opa-Opa difficult to control and lead to accidental crashes.
