Speedball is a fast-paced futuristic sports game originally developed by The Bitmap Brothers and published for the Sega Master System by Mirrorsoft. Blending elements of handball and ice hockey within a steel-walled arena, the game encourages brutal, full-contact tackling alongside scoring goals. You guide your team through Knockout Cup and League modes, fighting to outscore and physically overpower the opposing squad.
How to Play
The objective is to throw the steel ball into the opponent’s goal while defending your own net. When you have the ball, you must pass and maneuver past defenders; when defending, you tackle the ball carrier to steal possession. Use the Arrow Keys to move your players. Press Z to throw the ball or tackle, and X for lobbed passes or to switch your controlled player.
Tips
- Bounce the ball off the arena walls to bypass defenders and set up scoring opportunities.
- Anticipate passes rather than constantly chasing the ball carrier; intercepting is often faster and less risky than tackling.
