Game description:

Sonic 2: Tohaka is a 2004 Sega Genesis ROM hack by Ultima that offers a remixed experience of the classic platformer. This early modification introduces fresh level layouts and palette changes, notably replacing the iconic Emerald Hill Zone with the newly designed Sapphire Vale.

To play, use the Arrow keys to move Sonic, press Z, X, or C to jump and perform your spin dash, and hit Enter to start the game. The browser controls map directly to the original Sega Genesis layout.

Take your time exploring Sapphire Vale to find newly placed Chaos Emeralds scattered throughout the stages. Keep an eye out for Sonic's updated sprites, which have been visually adjusted to match his appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and try to collect every emerald for a secret end-game encounter.
