The Simpsons: Bart vs. the World is a 1991 action-platformer developed for the NES by Acclaim Entertainment. Serving as the sequel to Bart vs. the Space Mutants, it follows Bart on a global scavenger hunt across locations like China, the North Pole, and Egypt. The trip is actually a trap set by Mr. Burns, forcing you to navigate tricky platforming stages, collect Krusty the Clown merchandise, and fight off Mr. Burns’ extended family, with puzzle and trivia mini-games breaking up the action.
How to play
Your goal is to reach the end of each level, survive the environmental hazards, and defeat the bosses waiting at the end of each world. Bart can walk, jump, and use weapons like firecrackers to deal with enemies.
Use the arrow keys to move. Press X (A button) to jump, and Z (B button) to attack or sprint. Use Enter (Start) to pause, and Shift (Select) to swap items.
Tips
- The trivia and sliding puzzle mini-games between stages are optional, but completing them is the most reliable way to stockpile extra lives.
- Look for the Bartman cape power-up. It allows you to fly for a limited time, letting you easily bypass some of the harder platforming sections.
