Kingdom Grandprix — known in Japan as Shippu Mahou Daisakusen — is a 1994 vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up from Raizing, the arcade studio whose staff would go on to found Cave. It’s the direct sequel to Mahou Daisakusen (released in the West as Sorcer Striker), carrying the series’ medieval-fantasy theme into brighter, busier stages full of knights, castles, and magical creatures as you blast through waves of enemies toward each level’s boss.
How to Play
Pilot your fighter up the screen, dodging enemy fire while raining down shots of your own. Holding the fire button charges a stronger “hyper” attack that unleashes on release, so alternating between steady fire and a well-timed charged blast is core to clearing tougher formations and bosses. In the browser, movement is mapped to the arrow keys, with Z for shot and X for bomb/hyper attack.
Tips
- Start charging your hyper attack just before a boss appears so you can unload it the instant the fight begins.
- Weave through gaps in bullet patterns rather than trying to outrun them — your hitbox is small, and the game is built around threading dense fire.
