Safari Rally is a vertically scrolling “eat-the-dots” driving maze game released for the Arcade in 1979 by SNK. As one of the company’s very first coin-operated titles, it plays similarly to Sega’s Head On. You must maneuver a car through vertical lanes, collecting dots while avoiding head-on collisions with oncoming enemy vehicles.
How to Play
Your objective is to clear the maze of all dots to advance to the next round. You can control the speed of your car to safely maneuver between lanes and dodge oncoming traffic. In the browser, use the Arrow Keys to steer, Z or X to accelerate or brake, Enter to Start, and Shift to insert coins.
Tips
- Watch for wildlife: Animals like lions and snakes will occasionally cross the screen. Driving over them grants bonus points, but be careful to avoid their mouths or you will lose a life.
- Beware of boulders: Boulders on the road will force your car to skid out of control, which can easily send you directly into the path of an oncoming enemy car.
