Rockman & Forte (known internationally as Mega Man & Bass) is an action-platformer released by Capcom for the Super Famicom (SNES) in 1998. Originally a Japanese exclusive, this English-translated version lets you experience the challenging title that bridges the gap between Mega Man 8 and Mega Man 9. You can choose to play as either the classic hero Mega Man or his rival Bass, each offering a completely distinct playstyle as you battle against King, a new villain who has stolen data from Dr. Wily to build an army of powerful Robot Masters.
How to Play
Your goal is to clear each stage, defeat the Robot Masters to claim their special weapons, and stop King’s plans. The game uses standard SNES browser controls:
- Movement: Arrow Keys
- Jump (B button): Z
- Shoot (Y button): A
- Weapon Select (L/R): Q / W
- Start / Select: Enter / Shift
Tips
- Character Differences: Mega Man can slide under low gaps and use his powerful Charge Shot to deal heavy burst damage. Bass can double-jump and fire his buster rapidly in multiple directions, but he cannot run while shooting.
- Platforming vs Bosses: Bass’s high mobility makes many tricky platforming sections much more forgiving, while Mega Man’s Charge Shot often makes boss fights quicker.
- Collecting CDs: There are 100 hidden data CDs scattered across the levels. You will need to explore with both characters to collect them all, as some CDs require Mega Man’s slide or Bass’s double-jump to reach.
