Riot City is a classic 1991 side-scrolling beat ’em up released for the Arcade. Developed by Westone, players take control of narcotics detectives Paul or Bobby as they battle through syndicate-controlled streets to rescue a kidnapped girl. Following the traditional arcade brawler formula, the game features satisfying melee combat, detailed pixel art, and support for two-player cooperative action.
How to Play
Your objective is to clear waves of thugs and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. Typical browser-based arcade controls map movement to your arrow keys, with your main action keys (usually Z and X, or Ctrl and Alt) handling attacks and jumping. Use the Shift and Enter keys to insert coins and start the game.
Tips
- Crowd Control: Pressing your jump and attack buttons at the same time performs a special spinning move. It drains a small portion of your health but is a lifesaver when you are completely surrounded.
- Positioning: Always try to keep enemies on one side of your character. If you get sandwiched between two groups, you will take unnecessary damage.
