Developed by Gau Entertainment in 1993, Ranger X is a fast-paced, side-scrolling run-and-gun shooter for the Sega Genesis. You pilot a heavy assault mech deployed to defend your homeworld against the invading Edgezone terrorists. Known for pushing the console’s hardware with massive explosions and pseudo-3D effects, the game stands out by letting you control both your main mech and a separate support vehicle, the Indra, at the same time.
How to Play
Your goal is to blast through enemy forces, destroy their bases, and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. The game relies on a unique movement system. Use the Arrow keys to aim and move the Indra, X to fire your main weapon, and Z and C to fire your thrusters left or right. Press Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Your weapons are powered by a shield meter that slowly regenerates. To recharge your health and shields faster, stand on the Indra support vehicle while in a brightly lit area to absorb solar energy.
- Don’t forget you can fly! Master the independent thruster controls to hover over danger and rain down fire from above.
