Released in 1985 for the NES, Raid on Bungeling Bay is a classic overhead shoot ’em up and notable as the first video game designed by Will Wright. In this pioneering title, you pilot a Sea Fox helicopter on a mission to destroy six heavily defended factories operated by the sinister Bungeling Empire.
How to Play
Your objective is to bomb all six enemy factories across the map. You launch from an aircraft carrier, which serves as your home base to repair damage and restock your limited supply of bombs. The game uses standard NES controls in the browser: use the arrow keys to rotate and fly your helicopter, the Z key (A button) to fire your machine guns at fighter jets and drones, and the X key (B button) to drop bombs on the factories and ground installations.
Tips
- Target the factories quickly: The enemy forces operate on a living simulation and will develop more advanced weapons, such as guided missiles and a battleship, the longer the factories remain active.
- Defend your carrier: Your aircraft carrier can be attacked and destroyed. If you hear the warning siren, drop what you are doing and return to protect your only place to rearm and repair.
