Developed by Square and released in 1987, Rad Racer is a classic arcade-style racing game for the NES. Players choose between a Ferrari 328 or an F1 machine and race against the clock across eight distinct courses around the world, dodging traffic and trying to reach checkpoints before the timer expires.
How to Play
The objective is to complete each course before time runs out by reaching consecutive checkpoints. Use the D-pad to steer, A to accelerate, and B to brake (typically mapped to the arrow keys, Z, and X in your browser). Pushing Up activates a turbo boost once your car reaches a high speed, while pressing Select toggles the game’s stereoscopic 3D mode.
Tips
- Conserve your turbo boost for straightaways to maximize your top speed without risking a crash.
- When approaching tight corners, briefly release the accelerator or tap the brakes to maintain control. Colliding with other vehicles or roadside obstacles costs precious time.
