Q-Boy is an unlicensed side-scrolling platformer developed by Sachen for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. You play as the protagonist Q-Boy, travelling across the planet Phantom to retrieve the stolen “Rainbow Flower” from the villain, Dr. Mouse. It is surprisingly high quality for an unlicensed game, featuring solid design and colorful graphics.
How to Play
Navigate the levels and defeat enemies by puffing air at them to knock them into obstacles or each other. You also have a power meter that enables special abilities like a mid-air jump. In your browser, use the arrow keys to move, Z and X for the A and B buttons, and Enter for Start.
Tips
- If you pause the game and press Select, Q-Boy's sprite changes to look like Mario, and some enemies transform into Goombas and Koopa Troopas!
- Mastering the air puff mechanic is key to clearing out crowds, as enemies will ricochet off walls and into each other.
