Pyramid is an unlicensed puzzle game released for the NES in 1990, developed by Sachen and published in North America by American Video Entertainment. Taking heavy inspiration from Tetris, it shakes up the formula by replacing standard blocks with tricky triangle-based shapes. This makes building solid lines significantly more challenging, offering a unique and often demanding twist on the classic falling-block genre.
How to Play
The objective is to organize falling shapes to clear lines and prevent the stack from reaching the top of the screen. You can also use a special bomb mechanic to remove small sections of blocks when the screen gets too crowded. Use the Arrow Keys to move the falling pieces, Z and X to rotate them, and Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Master the Triangles: Because the shapes are made of triangles, pay close attention to the flat and pointed edges when rotating them to ensure they lock together cleanly.
- Save Your Bombs: Don’t use your bombs at the first sign of trouble. Save them for emergencies when the stack is dangerously close to the top.
