Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon is a 1995 side-scrolling beat ’em up arcade game developed by Gazelle and published by Banpresto. Based on the beloved anime series, it lets players choose from one of the five original Sailor GuardiansโMoon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, or Venusโand battle through hordes of monsters and familiar villains from the show. The game features vibrant, expressive sprite work and screen-clearing magical attacks unique to each Guardian.
How to Play
The objective is to fight your way through each stage, taking on waves of enemies and defeating the boss at the end. Like most classic arcade brawlers, you can move in eight directions, attack, and jump. To play in the browser, insert a coin (usually 5 or Shift) and press Start (1 or Enter). Use the Arrow Keys to move, and the action keys (typically Z, X, and C) to attack, jump, and trigger your special magical moves.
Tips
- Each character has distinct attack ranges and speeds. Sailor Jupiter hits hard but moves slower, while Sailor Venus has excellent reach with her chain.
- Collect crystals scattered throughout the levels to power your special screen-clearing attacks, which are crucial when you get surrounded by large groups of enemies.
- You can perform a powerful long-range projectile attack by holding down the attack button until the small gauge above your health bar is full, then releasing it.
