Power Soukoban is a puzzle game developed by Atelier Double for the Super Famicom in 1999. In this Japan-exclusive entry in the classic Sokoban series, you control a young oni (demon) tasked with sealing portals. Players must travel across Japanese mythology-themed stages, pushing boulders into designated holes to banish the monsters that have appeared across the land.
How to Play
The objective is to carefully maneuver through each level and push all the rocks into the correct holes to seal them. As with traditional Sokoban games, you must avoid trapping yourself or rendering a puzzle unsolvable. Standard Super Nintendo controls apply: use the D-pad (mapped to arrow keys in the browser) to move your character, and use the A or B buttons (Z or X) to interact. Press Start (Enter) to pause or access the game menu.
Tips
- You can only push rocks forward, never pull them. Plan your path carefully before making a move.
- Avoid pushing a rock directly into a corner or flat against a wall unless the goal is located there, as it will become permanently stuck.
- Work backwards from the goals in your mind to figure out the final few moves needed for each rock.
