Pooyan is a classic arcade shooter released in 1982 by Konami and distributed in North America by Stern Electronics. You play as Mama, a brave pig defending her piglets from a pack of hungry wolves. Riding a rope-drawn elevator controlled by your companions, you must shoot arrows to pop the wolves’ balloons before they can reach the ground or climb to your position. It combines charming graphics with increasingly frantic arcade action.
How to Play
Your goal is to survive each stage by popping the required number of wolf balloons. In the first phase, wolves float down to the ground; if they land, they climb ladders to bite your elevator ropes. In the second phase, they float upwards to push a rock onto you.
- Insert Coin: Shift or 5
- Start: Enter or 1
- Move (Elevator Up/Down): Up / Down Arrow Keys
- Shoot: Z, X, or Spacebar
Tips
- Grab the bait (meat) when it appears at the top of the screen; throwing it arcs downward and can knock out multiple wolves at once for massive points.
- Prioritize wolves that are closest to landing or reaching the top, as they pose the most immediate threat to your elevator ropes.
- Watch out for the wolves tossing projectiles at you while they float; keep moving to avoid getting hit.
