Pang World (1989) is an action-arcade classic by Mitchell Corporation where one or two players travel the globe popping deadly bouncing balloons. As you visit famous international landmarks, you must shoot harpoons straight up to burst large balloons, which split into progressively smaller, faster ones until they are completely destroyed.
How to play
Your objective is to clear every balloon from the screen before the timer runs out without getting hit. Move your character left and right to dodge the bouncing hazards, and fire your harpoon upwards. In the browser, use the arrow keys to move, Z or X to shoot, Shift to insert a coin, and Enter to start.
Tips
- Try to pop balloons when they are near the ground. If you burst a large balloon at the peak of its bounce, you may not have enough time to dodge the two smaller ones it creates.
- The wire harpoon power-up stays on the screen until it hits the ceiling, acting as a defensive wall that destroys any balloon that bounces into it.
- Watch out for dynamic stage elements like ladders and breakable blocks, which can either block your shots or provide much-needed cover.
