Released in 1980 by Namco and distributed in North America by Midway, Pac-Man is the definitive arcade maze chase game. Guide the iconic yellow hero through the neon corridors, eating every dot to advance to the next stage while avoiding the four ghosts: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde.
How to Play
Move through the maze using the Arrow Keys. Insert a coin using the Shift key, and press Enter to start. Your objective is to clear the board of all small dots. Grabbing one of the four large energizers in the corners will temporarily turn the ghosts blue, allowing you to eat them for bonus points and send them back to the center box.
Tips
- Each ghost has distinct AI: Blinky directly chases you, Pinky tries to ambush you by cutting off your path, Inky uses a complex vector based on Blinky’s position, and Clyde wanders away when he gets too close.
- You can corner faster than the ghosts. By making multiple quick turns in winding sections of the maze, you can easily build distance between you and your pursuers.
- Watch the ghosts’ eyesโthey will look in the direction they intend to turn just before they reach an intersection.
