Pac-Land, released in 1984, is a landmark side-scrolling platformer that helped define the genre. As Pac-Man, your objective is to safely guide a lost fairy back to Fairyland and then return home. You must avoid familiar returning ghosts—who now drive vehicles, drop water balloons, and fly—while eating power pellets to turn the tables on them, just like in the classic maze games.

How to Play

Survive the trip to Fairyland and back by running and jumping over obstacles and enemies. In the browser, use standard arcade mappings: press Shift (or 5) to insert a coin and Enter (or 1) to start. Use the Arrow keys to move left and right, and press Z, X, or C to jump.

Tips

• Build up enough momentum before jumping to successfully clear large water hazards and gaps.
• Eating ghosts yields increasing points, but their point values reset if you lose a life, so try to chain them together while a power pellet is active.
• Pushing fire hydrants backwards can sometimes spawn hidden items, including a helmet to protect you from falling water balloons.
