Game description:

No Escape! is a 1983 action game by Imagic for the Atari 2600. Set in a Greek-myth dungeon, you face waves of harpies descending from above and fight back with a limited supply of rocks. The defining mechanic: your rocks bounce off the walls, letting a well-angled throw reach enemies that a straight shot would miss — and a rock resting on the ground after impact can be retrieved, so ammunition management matters as much as reflexes.

How to play

Player 1 moves with the arrow keys and throws with Spacebar. Player 2 uses TGFH to move and A to throw. F12 resets the game, F11 cycles select options, and Alt+P pauses. A two-player mode is available — one of the better ways to experience the game.

Tips

  • Aim at the walls, not just at the harpies — a bounce path often opens an angle that a direct throw cannot cover.
  • Retrieve spent rocks before starting your next wave of throws; running out mid-attack is the main way to lose control.
  • The difficulty escalates fast. Use the first wave to practise your angles while the pace is still forgiving.
